Finnish brand Axopar Boats had a massive display at last week's Cannes Yachting Festival in France, including the official display of five new models for 2024.
In a huge press release, the Scandinavian builder announced a focus on sea trials for the event. The sea trials encompassed five major launches for 2024 - the all-new Axopar 29 Range series, the Axopar 45 Cross Cabin 'Travel Edition,' the Axopar 45 Sun Top, the Axopar 37 Cross Cabin, and the all-new Axopar 22 and 25 Mediterrana Edition models. They also had on display a Brabus Shadow 900 Sun Top, their elite luxury collaboration with Brabus Marine.
The company press release made note of the increasing market competitiveness in their category - a nod not only to Axopar's ascension into influence, but also the changing market demands for offshore performance and luxury within an economical platform.
“Axopar welcomes this competition as long as it brings more innovation and better products to the market for fellow boaters to enjoy. Axopar's success is not just about being a responsible leader; it's about inspiring others to explore a new genre of boating. We are the original, and we will stay committed to being the forerunner in order to innovate and continue paving the path for future boat designs and functionality," said Jan-Erik Viitala, founding partner at Axopar Boats.
Axopar's appeal continues to grow in North America as well, with notable celebs like NBA superstar Klay Thompson attracting attention for driving his Axopar 37 Cross Cabin to Chase Center in downtown San Francisco, home of the Golden State Warriors.
The company launched their current flagship -- the 45 Cross Cabin -- to rave reviews in early 2022. They also have invested heavily in electric boating, including buying a 10% stake in electric motor manufacturer Evoy Motors.
The most notable display at Cannes came courtesy of two products -- the all-new 29 Range series and 45 Sun Top.
29 Range Series
The new 29 Range series features a 29' (8.95m) LOA with 9'8" (2.98m) beam and a 2'8" (0.8m) draft. Classified as a B-offshore and C-coastal design, the 29 Range will have room for two berths below deck (accommodating up to four people) and is rated for 350-400 hp courtesy of Mercury's new V10 Verado outboard platform.
"We are thrilled to reveal here only a few of the numerous key features in the new innovative Axopar 29 range," said Jan-Erik Viitala. "This range represents the culmination of living our adventure, listening closely to our customers, and our relentless push for new ground-breaking products. Our 10th year anniversary will not just be a celebration of our past achievements, but also a testament of our commitment to keep developing new innovative products, expanding the boat club concept and pushing forward the development of the electric fleet."
The 29 Range series will come in three iterations -- the Cross Cabin, Sun Top, and Spyder.
45 Sun Top
The new 45 Sun Top marks another expansion of Axopar's flagship fleet courtesy of an open-air concept from bow to stern.
In the press release, the 45 Sun Top is described as a fully open boat designed "for the sun worshipper who prefers that open-air sensation."
The helm is unrivaled for its modern looks, spaciousness and open space onboard, enabling captains to navigate with
One of the Axopar 45's most notable features is fuel efficiency and range for a boat of its size. The 45 Sun Top has a cruising speeds ranging from 22 to 35 knots (25-40 mph) with a range exceeding 340 nautical miles (640 km).
According to the company, that's enough range to travel from Florida to the Bahamas and back or from Palma to Barcelona without refueling.
One of her other standout features is an open layout that offers five distinct social areas throughout the boat- the fore deck, helm, cockpit including the foldable balcony doors, the aft deck, and the front lounge with access through gullwing doors. The cockpit features comfortable seating for multiple people and a well-equipped and uncluttered helm station. Thanks to an extra wide sociable sofa that wraps around the cockpit wetbar, not to mention a large dining area and the option for a U-sofa or an aft cabin on the aft deck, there is plenty of room to entertain guests.
22 and 25 Mediterrana Edition
Axopar will also be offering two smaller dayboats for 2024 -- the 22 Mediteranna and 25 Mediterrana.
The smaller platforms feature all the same hallmark design features as the models mentioned above, albeit on a smaller scale designed for dayboating and ease of use.
Both designs centre around adaptability and can be switched from a U-lounge configuration to a full sun-lounge. This clever design converts the entire aft deck into a large sunbed with removable backrests for added comfort. The driver and co-driver seats can also be rotated to face the aft, creating an expanded hangout or dining area.
Up front, the 22 comes with a table and two wider seats with backrests on the front deck. Additional removable handrail cushions on each side of the boat serve as ideal spots for leaning or sitting and feature built-in cupholders. On the 25, the plush front lounge sunpads are also wrapped in the stylish, durable, and weatherproof Mediterrana fabric that keeps cool even in hot temperatures.
