Another major manufacturer has made the foray into electric boating. Today reputable Michigan manufacturer Four Winns announced the arrival their first all-electric model- the H2e bowrider.
The 20-foot platform will be in partnership with Canada's Vision Marine Technologies to provide propulsion via their 180e rotary electric outboard motor. Four Winns is part of the larger Groupe Beneteau conglomerate, which also includes notable brands like Beneteau Yachts, Prestige Yachts, Jeanneau, Wellcraft, Scarab, and Glastron.
Vision has been growing and excelling at a rapid pace in recent months, having both launched the world's first 100% recyclable boat and set the world boating speed record for electric power.
According to Four Winns, the H2e was borne out of contemporary customer desires- the need for ease of use, lower running costs, and quiet operation. The company calls the H2e a "fully sustainable cruising experience" that will no doubt draw the attention of many manufacturers who currently build gas-powered dayboats and bowriders.
In a company press release, Marine Vision Technologies CEO Alexandre Mongrean stated: “Boaters are more aware than ever of their environmental footprints and are looking for sustainable solutions to reducing carbon emissions while still being able to enjoy the passions they love so much, and we are excited to share our vision and passion with the world."
“Just imagine jumping aboard your H2e, fully-charged and ready to go, from your trailer or private dock. No noise, no exhaust, no refueling, no hassle… just a rewarding day on the water,” states Nick Harvey, Four Winns Brand Director.
The new H2e will have a top speed of about 35 knots (40 mph) when paired with Visions 180E electric outboard. The motor consists of two (2) high voltage, high density, 700V battery packs, complete with a fully integrated powerful onboard charger that can be plugged into any dock shore power system, for quick recharging wherever you go cruising.
The H2e will also feature the first-ever smart digital display designed specifically for the marine industry. A dual touchscreen at the helm allows the user to direct connectivity to entertainment controls, phone connection, and an advanced navigation system. H2e boaters will also have access to an automatic logbook providing trip history, battery status, security, and weather forecasts.
The latest iteration of the 180E outboard will be displayed by Vision Marine at the Paris Boat Show from December 3rd through to the 10th, 2022. Four Winns will be unveiling the H2e at the Miami International Boat Show taking place from February 15th -20th, 2023.
However, Four Winns is already making the H2e available for order and purchase, with expected deliveries beginning in early summer 2023.
