Sea Ray boats has announced the arrival of an all-new SLX 280 for 2024.
The announcement comes amidst Sea Ray's ongoing refinements to its style, most notably with a new 'design' language that was first showcased on last year's SLX 260. The same stylings were also apparent on their foray into surf boats with the all-new SLX 260 Surf.
The company has also made a pointed effort to stay ahead of their competitors, having already announced a new model -- the SLX 210 -- for 2024.
In the wake of the SLX 280 OB debut last year, Sea Ray is continuing their evolution with a sterndrive variation, giving boaters the opportunity to choose their preferred power-type. Like the SLX 280 Outboard, the SLX 280 features a luxury interior, impressive performance, improved seating, convenient storage, and innovative technologies that boaters come to expect from Sea Ray.
“Earlier this year, we released the SLX 280 Outboard which was met with positive reviews from our dealers, media and boaters,” said Keith Yunger, Sea Ray president.
“Now with the launch of the SLX 280, we’re excited to introduce consumers to the sterndrive variant of this new model, as we continue to expand and develop the next generation of the SLX Series.”
The yacht-certified SLX 280 has an overall length of 28'8" (8.8 m) and an expansive cockpit optimized for space and comfort. The transom locker and floor compartment can be used to store inflatables and gear, and a compartment under the transom sunpad can be filled with ice for an integrated cooler. For added convenience, the cockpit can be upgraded with a drawer-style refrigerator and an end table offering an inductive charging station, dry-storage compartment, and cup holders.
The plush U-shaped bow seating creates a social place to recline with lounge-style seating, and the transom sunpad offers an excellent spot to soak up the sun. When it is time for swimming, the platform with an optional submersible step provides easy access. The optional Power Tower offers a sporty canvas top and an extendable sunshade. For easy storage, the tower can be electrically lowered or raised.
The SLX 280 will be powered by a 350-horsepower Mercury MerCruiser 6.2L MPI ECT engine with a Bravo Three drive, SmartCraft technology, and Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) controls. The helm delivers simplified captaining with a dual Digital Dash featuring standard 9″ Simrad NSX touchscreen displays and SmartCraft Connect for intuitive engine monitoring. The Fusion stereo system at the helm puts music controls easily within reach. Available with the Entertainment Bundle, inductive charging stations located near the helm and companion seats ensure that phones stay powered up for all-day fun.
For a personalized touch, boaters can choose to upgrade their SLX 280 with bundle packages to complement their needs and lifestyle. Selections include Anchor, Comfort, Entertainment, Essentials, Lighting and Water System Bundles.
