The partnership will see Vision Marine Technologies produce electric outboards for Smoker Craft's pontoon brands.
Vision Marine Technologies has announced it has teamed up with Smoker Craft to offer a new pontoon platform featuring its E-Motion 180-hp electric propulsion system, including the P-Powerpack.
The new electric pontoon will be designed primarily for rental fleets, boat clubs, and commercial applications.
“Our goal is to deliver exceptional quality and craftsmanship, which is why we’ve partnered with a leading pontoon manufacturer with the capability for high-volume production,” said Alexandre Mongeon, CEO of Vision Marine, in a press release.
“After successfully integrating our electric propulsion systems into several pontoon models over the past three years, we are confident that this new electric pontoon will set a new standard in the industry and elevate the pontoon boating experience,” he added.
Smoker Craft Inc., based out of New Paris, Indiana, has a long history with over 50 years of success and a reputation for building some of the industry's most reliable boats. The company currently offers 16 series of fishing boats and 6 series of utility boats through the Smoker Craft brand. They also operate three pontoon brands including Starcraft Marine, Sylvan Marine, and SunChaser.
Vision Marine Technologies, based in Quebec, Canada, has emerged as a forerunner in electric propulsion technology. The company has been extremely active in the last three years, having been involved in several major electric boating milestones.
They recently set the electric boating speed record at 116 MPH at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. A documentary highlighting the milestone gave an inside look at the company's innovative E-Motion 180 horsepower electric outboard. The company also recently attempted to set the world electric boating distance record.
The collaboration between Vision Marine and Smoker Craft is designed to meet growing demand in the electric boating sector while also offering rental operators a reliable and sustainable option for their fleets.

Vision Marine is expected to ramp up production of the E-Motion 180 to meet the partnership's needs.
