After unveiling a new 26-foot model at FLIBS last year -- the 260CC-X -- North Carolina's World Cat Catamarans has released a new iteration for 2023.
The all-new 260DC-X dual console will replace World Cat's most popular model ever, the 255DC, by expanding its length, amenities, and capabilities with a re-designed and re-energized platform.
The news comes on the heels of World Cat expanding its manufacturing capabilities in North Carolina in mid-2021 to meet surging demand. The company added a new 265,000 square foot facility in Greenville, NC to complement its existing headquarters in nearby Tarboro, NC. They build a broad range of offshore-capable catamarans known for seaworthiness and expansive deck space ranging from 23 to 40 feet.
The 260 DC-X began production in July 2023 and is already available to order from World Cat dealers.
“We didn’t just optimize,” said Chad Armstrong, VP of Sales & Marketing, in a company press release. “We revolutionized use of space, storage, comfort, and experience for a truly innovative World Cat 26-foot dual console.”
The new model will carry an LOA of 25'6" (7.7 m) with a 9'0" (2.4 m) beam and a modest 14" (0.36 m) draft. She will come in at roughly 7200 lbs (3265 kg) and will be rated for up to 400 horsepower via twin 200 hp outboards.
Innovations include a swivel cooler seat with cushion that stows in a locked position under the captain’s helm seat, while also swinging out for a convenient and comfortable starboard side-seat.
To ensure an unobstructed navigation from bow to stern, the door to the onboard head pivots out and back keeping the center aisle clear for passengers while allowing easy side entry into the roomy, well-appointed head.
Mounted at the back of starboard-side helm chair is an entertainment area containing a Corian top for food prep, four drink holders and built-in tackle/storage bins and insulated drink box.
Like its 260CC-X center console counterpart, the 260DC-X provides a fold-down 50” transom bench seat that easily folds down for a wide aft deck space and expanded casting deck along with easy on and off stern boarding.
Versatile and convenient seating features include an optional bow table that can easily be removed - converting the area to a lounge space with an optional filler cushion - and the multi-use port cockpit seat with three seating configurations: forward seating, aft leaning post position or portside rear facing chaise lounge.
