Yamaha Adds Short Shaft F25 Outboard for Small Boat Market

By: Scott Way

Yamaha has expanded their already impressive lineup with the launch of the 15" short shaft F25 outboard engine for 2022.

The new 25 hp (432 cc) model will be available as a four-stroke with variations that include power trim and tilt (PTT). Yamaha's Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS™) will be standard on all models. The new engine will be the lightest 25 horsepower outboard available on the market with an overall weight of 126 lbs.

In a company press release, David Meeler, New Product Introduction Manager for Yamaha Marine Engine Systems, stated "as the lightest 25 horsepower model available—two-stroke or four-stroke—it features the highest power to weight ratio in its class. With the addition of these new models, Yamaha adds more value and convenience to premium portable power.”

Power trim and tilt on short shaft models will be an obvious incentive for those looking for ease of use with small aluminum fishing boats or similarly sized craft.

All the F25 factory-equipped tiller models with also feature a new tiltable handle with an integrated PTT module for adjusting trim and tilt. The PTT switch is also accessible when the handle is fully tilted up during trailering, giving easy access for adjustments before launching or hitting the road.

The F25 platform will be available with both the short 15" shaft and a longer 20" shaft option.

The new F25 series will be available for spring 2022. For more information check out yamaha-motor.ca
